Our work
The foundation is divided into three branches: Advisory, Training and Education, and Research, scroll down to learn more about them
Advisory
The foundation’s advisers are senior international experts providing consultancy and advisory support services to clients and beneficiaries mainly in the Advisory branch.
They provide advice and mentorship in
- Crisis Management
- Integrated Wargaming and Design Qualification
- Planning and Decision Making
- and bespoke assistance
Advisers are rostered by the foundation and assigned to specific contracts by the secretariat based on their backgrounds and requisite areas of expertise.
Crisis Management
Our advisers support organisations in crisis management, linking up with the crisis management staff to support processes, decisions and technical support
Integrated Wargaming
When plans are made, wargaming is an effective way to find pitfalls and points for optimization. In integrated missions, comprising components of both civilian, military, and police personnel, our advisers are experts in assisting these complex wargaming approaches to find the best solution.
Design Qualification
In the early phases of mission planning and crisis response, the design of the mission is pivotal to the approach to problem-solving. Our experienced advisers contribute with guidance and reflection on the best design for the mission.
Planning and Decision Making
For senior officials, decision making is an essential skill to master. Making the best decision is a matter of balance, compromise and hard choices. Our advisers stand behind you with guidance and support to help make the best decision available for the situation.
Our programs
The Training and Education branch boasts multiple programs that strengthen the capabilities of the people who needs it most. From learning how to plan a genocide-prevention mission to handling civil war, our associates have your back. We combine engaging theoretical sessions with hands-on scenario practice combining classic teaching techniques with collaborative learning while using 21st century technology. See the programs we offer below to learn more.
The Integrated Mission Planning Course teaches the Integrated Mission Planning Process to develop comprehensive mission plans based on a strategic directive with a political mandate.
This course, led by the regional associates, teaches the participants how to plan a mission combining several nations’ civilian, police, and military components into a coherent force to prevent genocide, hunger and catastrophe.
The two-week course is set up at a training venue with full accommodation for the participants and provides not only valuable skills and knowledge for the professional, but also invaluable networks across nations and continents – the core of our endeavour to promote peace through cooperation.
We also conduct Instructor Certifications for the professionals who wants to give to others, what they received in their IMPC. This course is held annually and requires focus and discipline, but the rewards are worth it.
The Hostile Environment Awareness Training caters to the front line worker who needs to know how to work in a hostile environment. The training portfolio consists of four options:
- Basic HEAT
This training is for anyone who needs basic safety and security awareness before going into a mission in a hostile or possibly hostile environment. 3 days in a location near you. - Refresher HEAT
If you already completed our HEAT course once before, take this 1-day refresher course to get up to speed on the latest development and refresh your knowledge and skills. - Team Leader HEAT
Are you responsible for other people in a hostile environment? This course equips you to handle not only yourself, but your colleagues’ physical and mental health and security.
The Instructor Courses cater to the professional who wants to know the power of teaching. With our courses, you learn to pass on knowledge and skills with the most efficiency and retention through pedagogical means and methods.
We offer three courses:
- Basic Instructor Course
This 1-week course introduces the beginner to the world of teaching. With hands-on practical lessons and immediate feedback from peers and instructors, you will quickly get the hang of it. You learn to teach a lesson according to a lesson plan and to engage your students. - Advanced Instructor Course
This 1-week course for the basic instructor with experience develops your ability to write your own lesson plan and suggest improvements to the course curriculum based on your experience. - Course Director
This 2-week course for the senior instructor who finished the advanced instructor course allows you to design and write your own course curriculum and advise, assist, and guide other instructors in their work.
